Colete Martin – Artist Series

The people of my paintings are liberated. They are playful, sometimes angry, and unafraid. The reality I am forging exists outside of a specific time, but moves in cycles of the seasons.

My paintings are meant to feel familiar but upon closer observation offer strange and sometimes uncomfortable details. Working with acrylic paints let me produce transparent layers of color in the flesh tones, helping to define a joyful and spirited painting style that is coherent with the topics my paintings explore.
